Lasers, chips and nanoscale samples: our micro-scale engineering workshops
Laser Based Fabrication of Microfluidic Devices for Lab on Chip Applications ran on 21 December 2021 at FME, GIK Institute. Participants worked directly with laser fabrication equipment, learning process parameters, sample preparation and quality inspection.
Lab on a Chip followed on 7 August 2024 at the Seminar Hall, Brabers Building. Teams designed a simple microfluidic channel, fabricated it, and tested flow behaviour in the laboratory — design, build and test inside a single day.
Two days later, on 9 August 2024, Nanotechnology and its Industrial Applications ran in the same hall in collaboration with COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad Campus. Participants ran characterisation sessions on real samples and interpreted the resulting data together.
Later that month, on 27 August 2024, Biomedical Sciences and Applications at the AHA Auditorium combined short lectures with laboratory demonstrations and a group design exercise, in collaboration with PAF-IAST, Haripur.
The common thread is deliberate: a lecture on characterisation is forgettable, an afternoon spent arguing over your own sample data is not.
