The Art of Academic Writing: what two years of workshops taught us

The first Art of Academic Writing workshop ran on 21 October 2022 at the Seminar Hall, Incubation Center, GIK Institute. Attendees drafted and critiqued abstracts and introductions in guided sessions with experienced authors and reviewers.
The second, on 20 October 2023 in the same hall, moved further down the manuscript. Participants worked on revision rather than first drafts, and left with a revised manuscript section and a personal submission plan.
The shift came from feedback. Writing an abstract in a workshop is useful, but most researchers arrive with a half-finished paper already on their machine — and what they actually need is a reviewer's reading of it and a realistic plan for where to send it.
Both events, with photographs, are listed on our past events page.
